Taoyuan City’s “Taoyuan Travel” YouTube channel has received the YouTube Silver Creator Award. Mayor Chang San-Cheng praised the Department of Tourism for leveraging new media to showcase the city’s unique character. He noted that livestreaming can deliver strong results without large budgets, and he encouraged all departments to develop engaging livestream topics that present Taoyuan’s charm to global audiences in real time.
The “Taoyuan Travel” app is a smart tourism platform developed by the city government. It integrates multiple live camera feeds so that residents and visitors can check real-time conditions at any time. The “Taoyuan Travel” YouTube channel has accumulated over 50 million views and more than 100,000 subscribers, making it the first government agency channel in Taiwan to receive the Silver Creator Award. Last year (2024), snowfall in Upper Baling attracted many people to watch online. This year (2025), the city plans to add a live stream from Xucuogang Wetland for birdwatching and ecological viewing, showcasing more of Taoyuan’s diverse natural scenery.
The channel also keeps pace with tourism trends by regularly releasing promotional videos and feature content for major events such as the Taiwan Lantern Festival, the Longgang Rice Noodle Festival, and the Pearl Coast Music Festival. Highlights include rare footage of a Boeing 747-400 Large Cargo Freighter (Dreamlifter) landing at Taoyuan International Airport, giving viewers a chance to revisit remarkable moments. Looking ahead, the city government will continue to deepen the channel’s content, integrating smart-city development with innovative technologies to produce a broader range of high-quality tourism videos. The goal is to help more people discover Taoyuan, fall in love with the city, and experience its appeal in person.
